I've cut the hair off too many Barbies to count, too. I also never really had a negative view of my body because of her either. I didn't think she looked weird, although when I ask people about her, they often say that they did. I had AG dolls but never got into them, Barbie was always my thing. Barbie was such an important part of feminist history, and feminists don't want to see that! I hope one day she can be reclaimed.Talia bat Pessihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17676034506997700803noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-386410890156552579.post-17326294207210258502011-07-23T10:14:33.360-04:002011-07-23T10:14:33.360-04:00I loved Barbie as a kid, even though I did enjoy c...I loved Barbie as a kid, even though I did enjoy cutting off her hair...*sighs*. I never felt inadequete (sp?) because of Barbie's body--in fact, I thought Barbie looked wierd. Then I got into American Girl dolls, which I lived, because they were huggable, unlike Barbie. I never really understood the 'Barbie-makes-girls-feel-bad' movement. Thanks for this article, pointing that out!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-386410890156552579.post-86174587054813235252011-01-18T12:07:49.406-05:002011-01-18T12:07:49.406-05:00Fantastic! Yes, "Fashion Model" Barbie is short-sighted by today's standards, but when she was introduced, it was a huge deal! Handler did a marvellous job of both creating a product to fill a niche and encouraging the growth of women in America. Thank you for writing this to clear the air.Ellie Dihttp://applesandporsches.comnoreply@blogger.com
